Sisiwe Nqiza: A Realistic Rebuilding Lifeskills Training Centre Leadership Story

Guguletu: A Sister, A Mother, and A Leader

Originally, my involvement with Realistic in Guguletu began as a way to give back to my community through volunteering. I had no initial plans to work for Realistic or take on a leadership role; my main goal was to uplift my community with the skills I had.

Discovering Hidden Potential

As a woman volunteering at Realistic, the late colleague Mr. Maphelo, also known as "Paris," recognized potential in me. He appointed me to lead the Outpatient Program in Khayelitsha. Using the materials provided by Realistic, I guided and addressed the clients' behavior, leading me on a path of continuous work and facilitation.

Subsequently, the Executive Director, Mr. Solomon Madikane, supported my growth by enrolling me in an Auxiliary Social Worker course in 2016. In 2022, I was appointed as the Office Manager for the Guguletu branch, a role I continue to hold.

My journey with Realistic has been transformative. I have witnessed the positive impact on many young men and youth in our community. Leading an organization that contributes significantly to community development has allowed me to serve to the best of my ability. Realistic serves as a catalyst for societal change.

I am honored to be recognized as the Ambassador of Change.
